Steve Robinson is a kiln-formed glass artist, working with glass enamels – a technique in which he has specialised since graduating in Glass from the University of Wolverhampton in the 1990s as a mature student. Much of Steve’s work has been inspired by his love of marine life and is characterised by vibrant colours, tactile textures and sensuous forms.
Steve has won a number of awards for his work, including in 2010 the “Gold Prize for Glass” in the Craft and Design Magazine Awards. He works mainly to commission for both private and corporate clients, who have included Hilton Hotels, St Thomas’ Hospital London, and John Lewis plc (who he has been supplying with his unique range of kitchen splashbacks for many years).
Recently, since relocating from the coast of Pembrokeshire to Devon, Steve has been enjoying exploring Dartmoor and studying the textures and forms of silver birch trees and woodlands. These have formed the basis of his hugely popular new series of work, which he is continuing to research and develop.
